Electromechanics

The Research Group of Electromechanics conducts scientific research and gives highest education in the field of electromagnetic energy converters. Numerical analysis of electromagnetic fields is the core know-how of the Group.

The analyses of energy converters typically include modeling of motion and nonlinear
materials. The electromagnetic field is often coupled with a thermal field and mechanical vibrations. Knowledge, expertise and co-operation are needed from many fields of science and engineering.

The group has the facilities to test electrical machines up to the power of 150 kW. Test results are typically needed for the validation of the numerical methods and models developed.

The group is led by Professor Antero Arkkio.
