Aalto-yliopisto juhlistaa vakinaistettuja professoreitaan kutsumalla kaikki uudet tenure track -urajärjestelmän kautta nimetyt vakituiset Associate- tai Full-tason professorit luennoimaan omasta tutkimus- ja opetusalastaan yhteiseen monialaiseen iltapäivään.

Professoreiden esittelyt

 

Lily Diaz

Lily Díaz (born 1958, Puerto Rico) is an artist,designer and educator doing research in the intersection of art, humanities and science. Her education is in anthropology (B.A., Brandeis University, with Honors, 1981), computer art (M.F.A., School of Visual Arts, 1989), and new media (D.A., University of Art and Design Helsinki, 2002).

Dr. Díaz's achievements include a studio fellowship in the Independent Study Program of the Whitney Museum of American Art, Fulbright scholar and artist-in-residence at the Museum of Holography in New York. She is Professor of New Media since 2006 and leads the Systems of Representation research group, working in areas such as digital cultural heritage, information design, interface design, visualization and virtual reality.She has given keynote presentations and lectured at institutions such as Cambridge University, Hunan University, Tsinghua University, Universidad Iberoamericana de México, Universidad de Puerto Rico and University of Rochester and was Member of the Jury for the BID 2010, II Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño.

Her art and design work with cultural heritage has been shown at diverse national and international venues such as Ars Electronica, Center for Architecture–AIA New York, Design Museum Helsinki, International Festival of Films on Art, Gallen-Kallela Museum, National Archives of Finland, the Maritime Museum of Finland and the Royal Academy of Arts.

She is a frequent guest and participant in conferences with more than 70 publications in design, information communications technology and new media art.

Lily Díaz, D.A., has been appointed Professor of New Media at the Aalto University School of Arts on 28 August 2014.

Toni Kotnik (born 1969, Germany) received his Ph.D. degree (Dr. sc. Nat.) in mathematics from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, in 1999. After completion of his second degree in architecture, he worked as a senior researcher at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and as studio master at the Architectural Association (AA) in London.

Dr. Kotnik was Assistant Professor at the Institute for Experimental Architecture at the University of Innsbruck and Associate Professor at the Singapore University of Technology and Design. He is principal of d’HKL, a Zurich-based office focusing on experimental and research-oriented architectural design, and has been lecturing worldwide, including Harvard University, Copenhagen Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Princeton University, The Bartlett School of Architecture, Oslo School of Architecture and Design, Sydney University of Technology, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and MoMA New York.

His practice and research work has been published and exhibited internationally, including the Venice Biennale, and is centred on the integration of knowledge from science and engineering into architectural thinking and the design process.

Toni Kotnik, Dr. sc. Nat., has been appointed Professor of Design of Structures at the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture and the Aalto University School of Engineering on 29 September 2014.

Lasse Niemi (born 1963, Finland) earned his degree of Doctor of Science in Economics and Business Administration from the Helsinki School of Economics in 2003. Since 1996, he has been working with HSE and the Aalto University School of Business in various positions at the Department of Accounting. During 2003–2004, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Florida.

His research interests include auditing, financial reporting quality, and corporate governance issues. He has been extensively involved in the development of regulation and supervision of the auditing profession in various working groups and supervisory bodies in Finland.

Dr. Niemi is currently involved with two leading auditing journals as an editorial board member: Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory and International Journal of Auditing. He has published his work in journals, such as the Journal of Accounting Research, the European Accounting Review, Accounting and Business Research, the International Journal of Accounting, and the International Journal of Auditing.

In 2001, the European Audit Research Network awarded Dr. Niemi’s work on audit pricing with Best Paper Award at its Symposium in Wuppertal, Germany. In 2014, his work with co-authors was awarded by the Foundation for the Advancement of Finnish Securities Market.

Lasse Niemi, D.Sc. (Econ.), has been appointed Professor of Auditing at the Aalto University School of Business on 19 November 2014.

Filip Tuomisto (born 1978, Finland) received his D.Sc. (Tech.) degree in engineering physics from the Helsinki University of Technology in 2005. He has led the positron research group since 2006. After obtaining his doctoral degree, Tuomisto has spent in total two years as a visiting scientist in France, Poland and USA. In his research, Dr. Tuomisto focuses on the development and applications of positron annihilation spectroscopy for studying the atomic-scale structures of materials for electronics and nuclear applications.

Since joining the faculty of Aalto University in 2012, Dr. Tuomisto has been responsible for the education and research in nuclear engineering. At present, he leads a research group with close to 20 scientists, working on topics ranging from experimental materials physics to neutron transport theory in nuclear reactors. Dr. Tuomisto is responsible for the MSc-level Aalto Nuclear Safety minor programme, launched in the term 2015–2016. He has authored and co-authored more than 170 journal articles and book chapters.

Dr. Tuomisto is also active in policy advice. He is a member of the steering group for the overall renewal of the Finnish Law on radiation, appointed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, and a member of the Senior Advisory Group of the European Human Resource Observatory for the Nuclear Energy Sector of the European Commission.

Filip Tuomisto, D.Sc. (Tech.), has been appointed Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the Aalto University School of Science on 19 December 2014.
