Can entrepreneurship support the asylum-seeker situation in Finland? Is entrepreneurship a desirable and feasible activity for asylum-seekers? Could it help fostering social integration in the short- and long-term? These and related questions have been recently explored by Aalto students together with asylum-seekers in Greater Helsinki as part of Aalto’s new Sustainable Entrepreneurship Course.
Students will present their main insights at the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Day, organized by the Entrepreneurship Unit at Aalto School of Business and Aalto Global Impact. The event is open to the general public, and takes places in Otaniemi (Urban Mill) 1st December 2015, from 10:00 to 16:15.
The day starts at 10:00 with an Entrepreneurship Workshop for asylum-seekers run by Demos Helsinki. At 12:00 a networking lunch (organized by Iglu-Impact) invites you to become inspired by sustainable business ideas and startups founded by Aalto students. At 13:00 Aalto students present their findings on the asylum-seeker situation, followed by a panel discussion to advance our understanding of the role of entrepreneurship for asylum-seekers.
The event is held in English.
The Sustainable Entrepreneurship course, offered by Aalto University School of Business/Entrepreneurship, provide students a platform to learn more about the role of sustainable entrepreneurship in tackling global business challenges.
